I’ve always been very fond of the two tracks Sinead sang on Rick Wright’s ‘Broken China’ album which, given that album’s subject matter, now have added poignancy
I was there that night. I didn’t boo and many others didn’t boo, either. In fact, many clapped but, as she delayed and delayed, the clapping fell away and the booing predominated.
Had she just got on with performing the Dylan song, she could well have won the day, in my view, if only because , lyrically, she could hardly have chosen a more appropriate song. For example:
“They’d like to drive me from this town / They don’t want me around”
Richard,
Have you heard this song from the great long lost Nottingham band on which Sinead O’Connor appears?

Suzanne Moore writes about Sinead’s appearance at the Dylan concert in her tribute piece. https://suzannemoore.substack.com/p/reclaiming-sinead-o-connor-3d2?utm_medium=email
